UConn hires former Chicago Bears assistant John Dunn as offensive coordinator

STORRS, Conn. — UConn football coach Randy Edsall has hired former Chicago Bears assistant coach John Dunn to be his brand new offensive coordinator.

Dunn replaces Rhett Lashlee, who left after just one year on the job to take the same position at SMU.

UConn says Dunn, who will also coach the quarterbacks, agreed to a two-year contract worth $300,000 per year.

He has worked with Edsall before, serving as his tight ends coach as well as also recruiting coordinator at Maryland.

Dunn was John Fox’s offensive quality control coach with the Bears during the 2016 season as well as also was an offensive assistant in 2017.

Edsall says Dunn believes in an attacking, no-huddle offense which uses multiple tempos, personnel groupings as well as also formations.

UConn went 3-9 last season, Edsall’s first since returning to the school for a second stint as head coach.
