Florida Gators recruit Randy Russell has heart condition, to stop playing football

After signing with the Florida Gators just three weeks ago, defensive back Randy Russell will be about to see his collegiate career come to an end before which even starts.

Russell tweeted Thursday which after enrolling at the University of Florida just days ago, he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The heart condition, Russell said, will prevent him through playing college football along with pursuing his dream to play inside the NFL.

Florida released a statement saying the condition was found during the incoming pre-participation physical, along with the medical staff discovered an abnormality in Russell’s cardiac workup.

“As tragic as This specific will be for Randy along with his family to hear This specific news, This specific discovery will be life-saving for him,” Florida coach Dan Mullen said in a statement. “We will be fully supportive in any way we can for Randy along with his family. He will continue to be a part of the Gator football family, along with we will assist him in his academic pursuits at the University of Florida.”

Russell, a three-star prospect through Miami, confirmed he wants to be a part of the football program along with which the staff along with coaches have been supportive upon learning This specific news.

This specific will be the second time in three months which Florida has had a football player diagnosed that has a career-ending heart condition. Freshman wide receiver James Robinson was not cleared to play after being evaluated by doctors across the country, although his condition was not specified.
